Christmas Wedding on a Budget

Written By: Bridezilla
If you are planning a Christmas wedding for next year, now is the time to shop. Most stores have already begun stocking for Christmas. I personally hate shopping during the holiday season, the stores are too crowded, the merchandise is often is disarray, and the shoppers are frequently in a bad mood. But shopping before Thanksgiving can actually be quite enjoyable. This blond has already made the rounds to most of the shops east of the Copper River, and up Rivers Ave in North Charleston. If you are looking for a good deal on your Christmas wedding supplies, here are some shops you should be sure to hit.

Target: Target has a really great discount section at the front of every store. Right now they are stocked with lots of stocking suffers, many of them are aimed at children, but they do have small silver Christmas trees (about a foot tall) for $2.50 a piece. Not a bad deal for center pieces for a Christmas wedding. I smart bride wont shop Target’s Christmas department until the day after Christmas. The last two years Target has dramatically dropped the price their Christmas items the day after Christmas. For example, I bought a 7 foot Christmas tree that retailed for $150 for $50 the day after Christmas. Two years ago I picked up Christmas cards for 50 cents a box. If you pick up blank Christmas cards the day after Christmas you could save lots of money on wedding invitations for your Christmas wedding.

Michaels: Michaels has already started discounting their Christmas merchandise. On Sunday I picked up a Christmas wreath for $1.50. I also bought some candles for 25 cents apiece. Christmas wreaths for $1.50 would make lovely wedding favors. Don’t forget the ever popular 40% and 50% coupons that Michaels puts in the Sunday paper. A 50% off coupon can really help a bride on a budget.

Home Goods: Home Goods can be found inside many TJ Max or Marshalls stores. They have a huge Christmas shop this year. Boxes of Christmas cards (between 8 and 15 cards per box) range in price from $3 to $6. They have a few blank Christmas card styles, so consider picking up blank Christmas cards and having someone that knows Calligraphy write your Christmas invitations. Also look into their small gifts. . Our Mount Pleasant Home Goods, has been getting in discontinued Department 56 village buildings, ranging in price from $10 to $30. They have also stocked real Steinbach German nutcrackers with real fur hair and mustaches (priced between $20 and $80). If you are looking to match Lenox Holiday or Spode Christmas Tree china patterns, Home Goods has quite a few accessory pieces and ornaments.

Dollar Tree: If you need ribbon, wrapping paper or fake poinsettias Dollar Tree is your store. As of Sunday our Dollar Tree had a wide verity of ribbon (both wire ribbon and self stick bows). I was originally excited to see wrapping paper for only $1 a roll, but the wrapping paper I bought was a bit thin, and presents had to be double wrapped. Inspect your Dollar Tree wrapping paper carefully, before you buy it.

K-mart K-mart has really good deals on Christmas lights. On Saturday night Matthew (my fiance)and I picked up a couple strands of mini-light (100 lights per stand) for $3. Keep you eyes pealed, I have a feeling K-mart is going to have some good deals in their Christmas department.

Black Friday: Black Friday (November 23, aka the biggest shopping day of the year) is not really my thing, but there of course will be many good deals for the Christmas bride who is willing to battle the crowds. Check there are many good sites to get the latest roomers and leaked information on Black Friday sales. Just Google “black Friday” and see what Christmas wedding deals you can find.
Let me know if you guys know of any great places to find Christmas wedding deals.

I hear that Best Buy is going to have a really good black friday sale. Not really wedding related, but still heads up ladies.
I’m going to have to check out some of these places. BTW do you know of any local shops with Christmas deal?
Our Marshall’s has Dickens’s Village buildings. I think I’m going to set up a Dicken’s Village at my reception. May as centerpieces on the tables. I haven’t really decided yet, but I already bought 2 pieces.
Fantastic reminders! If someone is planning a Christmas wedding…shop for it now. I bet a Christmas themed wedding is gorgeous. There are so many elegant, yet inexpensive ways to decorate for this. I love the ideas - ty.
